Snoop Dogg, Karol G, and Billie Eilish are also joining Fortnite Festival. While Metallica and Pirates of the Caribbean are set to get events in Battle Royale
A full roadmap of Fortnite Chapter 5 may have just leaked out, with the leaked image promising collaborations with Pirates of the Caribbean and another Marvel-focused season.
Fortnite leaks are plentiful, with the established roster of leakers and data miners almost always revealing new information about the game before it arrives. While these leaks are typically about the odd thing here and there (for example, we know that the upcoming Star Wars crossover will include a Wookie Bowcaster mythic), we rarely see gargantuan leaks out of Epic Games. However, a new potential leak has surfaced online that appears to show off the entire 2024 roadmap of Fortnite, showing what we can expect from the rest of Chapter 5.
Fortnite leaker @HYPEX posted a tweet earlier today showing the leaked image, citing its source as a 4chan post from yesterday. And while 4chan has roughly hundreds of fake leaks a day, it has been the source of some legit ones in the past (such as the Super Smash Bros for 3DS ESRB leak in 2014 which revealed the entire roster). Just to play it safe, don't read any further if you want to avoid potential Fortnite Chapter 5 leaks.
The leaked image shows everything coming to the four main game modes over the remainder of 2024. For the core Battle Royale and Zero build modes, we've been given a look at the remainder of 2024's seasons and some events going on alongside them. According to this, Chapter 5 Season 3 is going to be apocalypse-based and run throughout the summer from May to August. Also, Metallica and Pirates of the Caribbean events are allegedly happening over the course of the season (with Metallica set to feature in Fortnite Festival around the same time).
Following that is an image of Marvel's Doctor Doom with several items circling him, including a Fantastic Four comic book, leading to speculation that we could be getting another Marvel-themed season (the last one being in 2020 with Chapter 2 Season 4), with a Fortnitemares event taking place during it. Finally – as we were already aware – Fortnite OG is returning at the end of the year, except this time around, it looks like it's going to be based on Chapter 2, with images for that chapter's Season 1, Season 2, and Season 3 featured in the leak. Then, following that, Chapter 6 will kick off in December.
Elsewhere, Lego Fortnite features a Star Wars crossover (which we already knew about), with artwork showing a Lego Star destroyer crash-landed in the desert, with the Lego character riding a speeder. Following that is an update bringing Chapter 3's Klombo dinosaurs to the mode, while Fortnite Festival has Billie Eilish, Metallica, Karol G, and Snoop Dogg headlining the remaining Festival Passes for 2024.
Is it legit?
Given the unprecedented scale of this leak, it is honestly harder than usual to make a call on how legitimate this is. However, there are a few things that have caught my eye on both sides.
In the 'this is fake' camp, one of my main issues is the fact that Doctor Doom is featured in the supposed Chapter 5 Season 4 key art. For the previous Marvel-themed season Nexus War, Doctor Doom was one of the skins featured in the Chapter 2 Season 4 Battle Pass, and unless Epic Games is finally ready to break it's 'battle pass skins will never return' rule, it's unlikely that we would see him feature in another battle pass.
Now there is always the chance to see a variant (Spider-Man was a Chapter 3 Season 1 skin, but Tom Holland Spider-Man appeared in the item shop), but it would be strange to build a season around that, and it's not even like the upcoming Fantastic Four movie is close enough for a tie-in like this.
And to be honest, since the introduction of Event Passes has given individual IPs a chance for some major representation in-game and the negative reaction to Chapter 2 Season 4 from players who aren't Marvel fans, I would be really shocked if Epic dedicated another season to Marvel.
There are also a few things in this that have me leaning towards it being legit though. First off, the amount of effort put into the leak. Things like the Season 3 art and the Lego Klombo are impressive and look straight out of Epic. And while it's possible for someone to go this hard for a leak (Super Smash Bros. Ultimate's Grinch leak comes to mind), there's no denying it's a lot of work to just trick someone on 4chan.
However, the main thing that has me leaning toward it being legit is the Fortnite Festival section. Billie Eilish was heavily rumoured for the mode, so there's no surprise there, but it's the rest of the year that has me surprised. There's some real low-hanging fruit in terms of Fortnite Festival rumours. People like Taylor Swift, Lil Nas X, Doja Cat, and Drake have all been popular theories from fans, so to see Metallica, Karol G, and Snoop Dogg as the contenders is selling me a bit more on this leak. While all three are incredibly popular, there wasn't much fan speculation over them, so if I were going to make a fake leak, I probably would've gone with some of those other artists as choices.
At the moment, it's with a huge handful of salt that I think it may be legit, but I could see this going either way. In any case, we'll know for sure once a few updates have arrived and we can see if the artwork matches the leak. We've reached out to Epic Games for a comment on the leak without a response, but we'll update this if and when we get anything in return.
