Horry-Georgetown Technical College looks forward to welcoming families and friends to the next Commencement ceremony as we recognize and celebrate the academic achievements and lasting contributions that our students have made to the College.

How to apply for graduation

  1. First, confer with your academic advisor to review your progress toward program completion and determine whether you have successfully completed all courses necessary for your associate degree, diploma, or certificate. You can find your assigned academic advisor on myHGTC.
  2. Complete an HGTC Application for Graduation.

Important Graduation Information:

Horry-Georgetown Technical College is pleased to announce the Graduation Ceremony for the 2023-2024 academic year will take place on May 1, 2024 at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center. This year, there will be two ceremonies: one at 11:00 am and one at 3:00 pm. Graduates will be assigned to the ceremony based on the degree they are completing. Please refer to the 2024 Commencement Times Guide for the time assigned to your degree.

Please note: Ticket pick-up indicates attendance to the Commencement Ceremony. If you plan to attend, and do not need tickets, please email commencement@hgtc.edu with your name and student ID number.

Important Dates

  • March 1: Graduation applications are due to the Registrar's Office for Spring 2024 graduates.
  • April 8: Last day graduation applications will be accepted for name to be included in commencement program.

Eligible Participants

Spring 2024 Commencement Ceremony participants must be one of the following:

  • December 2023 graduate (Fall 2023)
  • May 2024 graduate (Spring 2024)
  • Students scheduled to graduate in August 2024 (Summer 2024)

Cap and Gown

  • The deadline to purchase your cap and gown is April 26 in order to be eligible to walk at commencement.
  • Caps and gowns are available for purchase in the college Barnes & Noble Bookstore locations on each Campus for $59.94 + tax beginning Monday, March 25, 2024.
    Conway Store Hours:Monday-Thursday, 7:45am-5pm and Friday, 8am-12:30pm.
    Georgetown Store Hours:Monday-Thursday, 10am-4pm.
    Grand Strand Store Hours:Monday-Thursday, 9am-4pm.
  • If you wish to purchase your cap and gown online, there will be a shipping charge of $12.95. To order online and have it shipped to your home, please go to: www.collegegrad.herffjones.com. Please note: if you need to return the cap and gown after having shipped it to your home, you will need to return it directly to Herff Jones. The bookstore cannot refund you for regalia ordered online. Also, please do not have it shipped to Barnes and Noble. They will have plenty available for purchase beginning Monday, March 25.
  • HGTC will be using royal blue caps and gowns. Black regalia will not be permitted.

Tickets

  • The graduation application must be on file to receive tickets.
  • Each student must bring a student ID to receive tickets.
  • All students who have purchased a blue cap and gown and submitted a valid graduation application will be eligible to receive tickets.
  • Each individual requires a ticket. This includes children of all ages.
  • Each graduate is eligible to receive 10 guest tickets.
  • If additional tickets are needed, please email commencement@hgtc.edu with your name, student ID number, and number of tickets being requested.

Questions concerning pictures through Grad Images can be directed to the Customer Service Department at 800-261-2576, online at www.gradimages.com, or email ecc.giservice@gradimages.net. They have a large team of customer care representatives ready to help graduates and family members with anything they may need.

Diploma Replacement

For students who have already received their diploma, but are requesting a diploma reprint because they have lost their diploma or wish to have another copy, a Diploma Replacement Request Form must be completed and submitted with a $15 fee. It will take 2-3 weeks to process the request.
